Congratulations to our Executive Director, Toni Cassidy, who retired this week after 18 years of being a part of the food bank. We had a celebration to honor her and her countless hours she spent at the food bank, growing this organization to what it is today.

Our board chairperson, Tom Trethaway, shared the following letter which is included in the November meeting minutes:

The Board would like to recognize Toni’s many years of selfless service to the Seymour Oxford Food Bank; her unseen hours of meetings and activities outside of the facility itself; her unflagging energy on behalf of those in need; her commitment to increasing the food bank’s capabilities and hours of operation; her ready sense of humor, and finally, her friendship and affection for her many volunteers and colleagues.

Cheers to a well-deserved retirement, Toni! Come back to visit sometime!

Seymour Oxford Food Bank Receives $10,000 in Funding from the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal

Seymour, CT – November 9, 2023

The Seymour Oxford Food Bank received a check in the amount of $10,000 from the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal through its Vicariate Outreach Program.

The funding will help the Food Bank continue its mission of reducing food insecurity in the towns of Seymour and Oxford. The donation will be used to purchase food when donations of food are not sufficient to meet the need. The Food Bank relies on volunteer workers and donations of food and money by individuals, charitable organizations, and corporations to implement its program.

Successful Food Drive

What a great community we live in! The NBC/Stop & Shop Feeding Our Families Food Drive was a HUGE success on Saturday! We received over 2,500 pounds of food and $1,694! Thank you to all who donated when they shopped, all who volunteered to man the tables at the entrances and all the wonderful Stop & Shop employees who helped us that day, from donating food to setting up the store for easy shopping of requested food bank items to feeding the volunteers! We appreciate every single community member who had a hand in this wonderfully successful day!
